Trust The Process

Recently there has been an increase in commercial losses in the Durham community. The series of unfortunate events lately has created an opportunity to assess the business environment in the South Durham community and also focus on aggravating factors that contribute to costly repairs and business interruption (downtime). During observation, there were two persistent themes, either present or absent, that seemingly determined whether the business would experience interruption and higher costs or minimal to no interruptions accompanied by lower costs. The contributing factors are time and secondary damage. Each factor is co-dependent on the other. To achieve lowered costs for the commercial customer, a sense of urgency (low response time) is needed to address commercial losses which drastically reduces secondary damage. Secondary damage is a direct effect of prolonged response times and or negligence in addressing the source of the loss. The solution is in the process. At SERVPRO of South Durham, we follow a process for any commercial loss that assures the commercial customer experiences minimal business interruptions if any, and if possible, the avoidance of secondary damage. The first step in our process is a prompt response to the initial emergency contact from the customer. This perhaps is the most important step the commercial customer can take to minimize secondary damage. The more prolonged time it takes to make the initial emergency contract of the loss is directly related to the amount of potential secondary damage the loss is exposed to. The initial contact is the most considerable factor that affects time and money! The reasoning is that prolonged emergency contact usually results in unnoticed/missed damage or customer negligence. The preceding factors affect the loss in two ways: 1) it could affect the insurance claim process resulting in out-of-pocket expenses due to negligence or customer fault and 2) the prolonged notice delays the clean-up, restoration, and repair time resulting in additional or irreparable secondary damage. Again, resulting in additional costs. The next step is the initial inspection and assessment. During this portion of the process, our restoration Project Manager determines the extent of the loss and the scope of work, through testing and inspection, that needs to be completed to ensure proper and complete restoration! Then our restoration professionals clean and repair! This is where all of the restorable items and structures damaged are cleaned and repaired using several advanced techniques contingent on the type of loss presented. Our professionals are trained to provide sanitizing treatments, remove odors, and deodorize your property. Restoration is the next step! Restoration is where the magic happens in which our restoration specialists begin the process of restoring your commercial business to its preloss condition. Restoration may involve minor reconstruction repairs, such as replacing drywall and installing new carpets to full-scale construction repairs, such as the reconstruction of various areas or rooms in business or structural repairs. Once the cleaning, restoration, and construction are complete, the final and most meaningful step in the process is initiated. The process is the customer’s approval by signing off on the Certificate of Satisfaction. This assures all the needs, challenges, and expectations have been addressed and resolved to result in a completely satisfying customer experience. It’s when this happens when the Certificate of Satisfaction is signed, that makes it “like it never even happened!”

When you think, “Cleaning. Restoration. Construction.” Think SERVPRO of South Durham!!!!
